The College of Fine Arts seeks a writer to join its marketing office to help communicate the activities and accomplishments of the College.
The primary purposes for this position are to implement communications initiatives for the college in alignment with and in support of the colleges mission, vision and goals; enhance internal communications with faculty, staff and students; raise the profile of the college with alumni through external communications and; enhance the reputation of the college by promoting the achievements of our students, faculty and staff, our academic excellence and our commitment to innovation, collaboration and outreach to underserved populations.
1. Identify, report, write and pitch stories and articles for college publications including the alumni magazine, alumni newsletter and weekly newsletter to faculty, staff and current students
2. Identify, report, write, and pitch stories, press releases, and articles on behalf of the college for publication in University outlets including Ohio Today alumni magazine, Compass and others
3. Edit internal and external communications including newsletters, fliers, brochures and magazine articles to assure consistency and accuracy regarding grammar, punctuation, syntax, and acceptable institution style); and evaluation of factual accuracy and consistency of information chronology of events, overall consistency of subject matter; verification of facts, rearrangement or deletion of material.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field.
- At least three years of related experience including knowledge of A.P. and institutional style, editorial expertise, and journalistic ethics.
- The ability to deal professionally with university and external sources and constituencies.
