Job Description
The Office of the Vice President for Research and Creative Activity seeks a student intern to manage web content and graphic design duties. This student will help maintain the content on the division’s websites as well as create new content that may include graphics for the web or print communication materials.
The student will work under the direction of the director of the Office of Research Communications. The intern will work 10 hours per week at a rate of $10 per hour. The student will be hired by the end of spring semester 2014 and will begin work at the start of fall semester 2014.
The student must be willing to learn how to use the university’s CommonSpot content management system.
Duties include:
1) Creating new pages in CommonSpot; uploading copy, images and files
2) Updating content and troubleshooting problems
3) Managing graphic design jobs such as creation of flyers/posters/advertisements, web and television graphics that can be used to promote programs and services in the unit
4) Creating original graphics or illustrations, and preparing them for use on the web or in print materials
Minimum Qualifications
Experience with content management systems, CSS, HTML or other web languages
Proficiency in PhotShop and InDesign
Graphic design skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Demonstrated Ability to work independently without constant supervision
Strong computer skills in Mac and Microsoft Windows and Word applications
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skill
